Description
This algorithm maps the given journal names to the equivalent journal names in the UCSD Map of Science standard.
The following are the normalization techniques used to clean the data before matching them:
- Lowercase all data
- special character removal: -,:;!
- convert '&' to 'and'
- Unicode to ASCII, e.g. ā converted to a
Parameters
- Journal Column: The column that contains the journal names.
Applications
This algorithm assists users to clean up and reconcile the dis-ambiguous journal names to align with UCSD Map of Science standard. The cleaned standardized journal names can be used for Map of Science via Journals visualization on Sci2 or VIVO applications.
The unmapped journal names will be blank. You can solve the remaining unmapped journal names by using Google Refine with the Standard Journal list.
